The AGM battery refers to the absorbent glass mat battery or absorbed glass mat battery, whose design principle is to inject the required amount of electrolyte into the polar plates and separators with no free electrolyte. The negative polar plate is wet to improve the ability to absorb oxygen. In order to prevent the electrolyte from reducing, so the battery is sealed. For this, the absorbent glass mat battery is also called a "starved-electrolyte battery".
The absorbed glass mat battery uses pure sulfuric acid aqueous solution as the electrolyte, and its density is 1.29-1.3lg/cm3. Most of it exists in the glass fiber membrane, while a part of the electrolyte is absorbed inside the polar plate. In order to provide a channel for the oxygen precipitated from the positive electrode to the negative electrode, it is necessary to keep 10% of the pores of the separator not occupied by the electrolyte, which is, the starved-electrolyte design. The pole group adopts a tight assembly method to make the pole plate fully contact the electrolyte. At the same time, in order to ensure the battery has a sufficient service life, the polar plate should be designed to be thicker, and the positive grid alloy adopts a quaternary alloy.
When the AGM-absorbed glass mat batteries are charged, the internal gas recombination itself is an exothermic reaction, which causes the battery temperature to rise, the floating current increases, and the gas evolution increases, which promotes the battery temperature to rise higher, and the AGM battery storage will decrease. The battery itself is a "starved-electrolyte battery", tightly assembled, and difficult to dissipate the internal heat. If the heat is not removed in time, it will cause a thermal runaway. If the voltage at the end of the floating charge is too high, the ambient temperature around the battery will increase, which will increase the thermal runaway of the battery.
Every time the temperature rises by 1°C, the battery voltage drops by about 3mV, causing the floating current to rise and the temperature to further rise. If the temperature is above 50°C, the battery jar will deform. When the temperature is lower than -40℃, the valve-regulated lead-acid battery can still work normally, but the AGM storage will be reduced.
High-performance Power advanced AGM battery should have the following characteristics:
Performance characteristics of advanced AGM battery
The AGM lead-acid battery is a starved-electrolyte battery, so the electrolyte is absorbed in the AGM separator, and there is no flowing electrolyte in the battery. As AGM adopts advanced AGM battery materials and design technology, water loss is small during use, thus, no water is added. At the same time, high-performance AGM batteries also have the following advantages:
*Low self-discharge, can still be used after a long period of storage (3 months)
* Low-temperature starting power is high, suitable for frequent starting
*It has better charge acceptance
*No acid mist is discharged during charging
*Long service life (3~5 years)
*Safe and explosion-proof
*Small water loss
Structural features:
When the ordinary battery is near the completion of charging, due to the decomposition of water, a large amount of water is precipitated, which causes the drop of electrolyte level. If the charging current is too large, more water will be lost. As the absorbed glass mat battery uses a lead-calcium alloy grid, AGM separator, and innovative design, there is a gas recombination reaction during the battery charging and use, which reduces the battery's water loss.
Another reason why the absorbent glass mat battery does not need to add water during use is the use of a sealed valve control design, which greatly reduces the evaporation and leakage of water. At the same time, the use of AGM separators and the use of "tight assembly" can protect the active material of the positive plate. It can effectively prevent the active material from softening and falling off and prolong the service life of the battery. Since the maintenance-free lead-acid storage adopts a sealed design, it will not corrode the pole and the car body. The battery vent is designed with a new safety ventilation system. The air filter in the airway plug can prevent the discharge of acid mist and external sparks from entering the battery to prevent the battery from bursting.
Use characteristics:
Low self-discharge and long service life. AGM lead-acid batteries can generally be used for 3 to 5 years. The grid of ordinary batteries is a lead-antimony alloy. During the charge-discharge cycles, antimony is transferred from the grid to the active material and electrolyte of the positive and negative electrodes, thereby increasing the battery’s self-discharge and shortening the service life of the battery. The absorbed glass mat battery for sale adopts lead-calcium alloy, and the alloy does not contain antimony, so the self-discharge can be reduced to a minimum and the service life of the battery is extended. The absorbent glass mat battery has high starting power. Compared with ordinary flooded batteries, due to the use of new materials and new design methods, its internal resistance is small, the output voltage is high, the low temperature starting current is large, and its service life is long.
